The preppy look is very classy. Think of cable knit sweaters plaid, argyle, etc.
Hair:
Have it straight, wavy, or scrunched. These are the main looks you see on those store bags.
To straighten it, either use a straightener and run it through your hair. Or, you can blow out.
To blow it out, you need: Smoothing milk, a round brush with multi-bristles, a blow drier over 1800 watts, shine spray, volume spray, and styling cream. Apply styling cream to damp hair. Spray volume spray on just the roots of the top of your head. Run your fingers through while drying on cool. Then, wrap your hair up. Take down layer by layer. Dry the ends while spinning the brush at the ends to straighten them. After that, run the brush through the hair while drying. (Facing the floor to prevent frizz.) Do this to all your layers. After that, finsih with shine spray. (Lightly mist or it'll look all greasy.) If some of the ends of your hair curl out slightly redo the ends by using the round brush again. If you have flyaway,s apply smoothing milk to it.
Waves:
You can use a curling iron to create waves or use a curling moose and let your hair air dry.
Scrunching:
Use a leave in conditioner curling moose and put it in a bun to air dry, then the next day take it down. (Don't do this if it's your first time. You might do it wrong and have no time to fix your hair in the morning.)
OR
Use spray gel and scrunch your hair by crumbling your hair (Like crumbling a piece of paper) upwards, and keep doing it till it air days.
Makeup:
They go for the natural look. Use foundation/tinted moisturizer, a blemish stick, and blush to top it off. (Mascara and eyeliner is optional.)The phrase 'Less if more' is totally correct.
Shoes
Most of them where flip flops or flats. For flip flops, any is cute! For flats, aim for the black ones with a cute little bow on them. (Payless) Or if it's winter, buy some uggs or any sort of boot similar to them.
Clothes
Well, if you want 'preppy' like my school does it, here are some classic looks.

Some preppy sports are swimming, tennis, football, gold, and lacrosse. Most don't slouch. Classic good girl.
Jewelery
I don't know about earrings sorry. Pearls are the best. Layer them or have one strand that fits perfectly around your neck. If you can, buy one with a little bow. Same thing with the bracelets. Pearls are good, but so are bangles. For the bangles wear one or two on the same arm at your wrist.
Bags
Designer bags are good. Try buying a tote. Just wear it like you would normally wear a purse.

Well your supposed to wear BRIGHT colors!!! Wear layers like first a whit cami then another shirt (any color cami) then a like sweater thing (V-neck ect.) Try wearing metallic belts Make them skinny and i would say sparkly the color gold would be best. For bottoms i would say either jeans (not black) or a skirt (pink, white, and a jean skirt). For shoes wear matallics (make them the same color as the belt) flats or heels would be just fine. Purses small not BIG. Wristlets work well 2. As for make up nothing dark. Keep it simple lip-gloss, medium colored blush, eye-liner (NOT DARK it looks trashy). Hair wear it down and straightened or if you want to up in a pony-tail but make it look clean (no bumps) and add a skinny head-band (those strechy kinds) those make it look sporty yet preppy. when and if u wear it done also wear a head-band only those thicker hard ones. make it match yur out fit.

Straighten you hair until its flat as possible. If you have a coach purse bring it, or get a really nice and expensive "looking" purse. Wear a short skirt, with a tanktop from abercrombie and fitch, wear some red high heels, and wear a red headband, and then put on loads of mascara, and eyeliner. Then some blush and pink lipgloss. Wear some bulky braclets that match ur clothes, then wear a nice necklace, and get some big black sunglasses. You dont want to spend loads of money, or it would be a waste. Just find some really cute clothes at walmart or find good sales at american eagle.

Each generation finds fault with the next generation. I am 50 and my Mum and Dad didn't like the way I dressed or the music I listened to. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't be like them. k, well this is something i learned today. Sit on the ground with your ankles crossed. Press the back of your hands AS HARD AS POSSIBLE (your arms should be shaking) on the side of your thighs. Do that for 60 seconds. Then, put your hands by your sides, and they will float up! It is sooo cool and fun!

I recently had my hair cut and I really don't like it. I wanted bangs (which turned out great, straight cut slightly whispy) but the rest of my hair doesn't match/fit the bang style. Its basically a straight cut above my shoulders and I am not a bob wearing person. I have an oval face shape which I have found I am able to wear many styles.
I'm looking for a look that is funky, colorful, but yet professional. I can't have crazy hair for work but I want to bring out the "punk" in me. I'm having problems finding shorter hairstyles with straight bangs.

Go for a shag. You can dress it up or rock it out. I have it and LOVE it. And it goes well with most kinds of bangs including yours. A big new trend in color is black and white or this cool silvery blue color. Not too out there for work.

well if you dont like blonde try getting chunky streaks for a while experiment with color..if ur hair is light blonde you'll be able to change the color to temorary colors really easily...just sit down with your mom and explain to her about this...hopefully she';ll understand..and for the cut just get layers and maybe a shoulder length hair....that would be cute! good luck! and i hope she listens...
all of your pics were really dark but i think you might be able to pull off convincing your mom to let you get a light brown i think that would be really pretty on you but be sure to do it professionally and get a couple other colors in strands to liven it up and add more dimension
try an inverted bob. its a bob with the back cut shorter and higher and angled down towards the front. can have bangs or no bangs, your choice. from shoulder length to just the tip of bottom of ears. great style and you can go very short in the back, the nape section can be clippered short and high and have most of it hidden by the longer hair, only you will know its that short and high!!

hi, I heard you are a skater/ punk girl, so i have the perfect store for you, it is called hot topic it is usually in the malls so if you have a mall near you it prabably has one, alot of malls have them. it has all your stuff for your price range, the only thing it doesn't really sell is backpacks. It does sell skater shoes, i don't think they sell vans slip-ons.

Im sick of people calling skinheads racists and such when really know one knows what they're on about.
Skinheads started in the late 60s in here in Britain when gangs of Mods began cropping their hair and mixed with the West-Indian immigrants of that era and began to indulge in reggae music, and they wore boots and braces as a large portion of these people were dock workers who wore big boots and braces whilst working and incorpareted that into the style.
It is true that both black and white skinheads partook in "Paki-bashing" at this time when tensions over work were high, but most did not do this.
The revival in the 70s/80s was when the real problems began. With bands like Sham 69 giving bith to Oi music, skinheads were back, to give the stale, middle class punk scene a bloody nose. The two-tone scene also helped Ska and Reggae regain its popularity among skins.
The fair right then moved in, recruiting SOME skins and stealing the style, which of course the media lapped up.
I think the British definition of "skinhead" and the American definition of "skinhead" are totally different.
In America, Skinhead is used to refer to a sect of neo-Nazis who express their views with unfettered racism, complex displays of their faith in the Nazi regime and their utter intolerance of other ethnic or "weak" groups. I have met and spoken with Skinheads here and know my experience with them is correct and the majority of the people in this group fill that definition. They can be intimidating and frightening people.
Rent and see the movie "American History X" starring Edward Norton. It will give you a pretty good idea of what Americans assume skinheads are about.
Though I read the Wikipedia article and see your definition is correct as well. It's a shame that something so harmless became so entangled with racism and bigotry.
The only common factor is the hair style and the mode of dress. Next to that, they're different entities entirely.

Sometimes it just takes time for them to see you for who you are. You're expressing your own sense of style--nothing wrong with that. Maybe the stuff they took away from you offended them. Did they leave you with any bits of your punk identity? I would go shopping with just you and Mom if possible and try to find some things that are middle of the road. What if you were to wear dark clothes, but nothing with band's names or gross sayings on them? Can you two come to some sort of an agreement at all on clothes you could wear? Or makeup and jewlery? Maybe it's possible. She might not get exactly what she wants and you might not get exactly what you want, but hopefully you guys can come to some sort of compromise.
Try talking to your parents about things other than your clothing and music choices. Try talking to them about what life was like when you were little, what their life was like when they were dating, stuff like that. Maybe they can see that your personality is caring and loving, even though your clothing says F**k You.
just ask them mom dad do you love me for who i am and if you do not i am sorry but this is the personality that blooms when i have mom's and dad's mixed together so just remember this personality is part of you!

I would say that they are concerned with what path you may go down. Unfortunately in this world there is still sterotyping and you get judged by your cover. If you are a good person and stick to the right side of the law then I can't see why they should have any issues. I guess they want you to stay there 'little girl' forever, and don't want you to have to endure others critisism to your appearance - they could also see it as a reflection on there parenting. You will just have to reassure them through your actions that your appearance is not going to change you - I would say give them a little time.

Everyone fits into some type of stereotype and some people actually like this. Why? I mean I get so tired of being labled a 'nerd' just because of how I dress. Or I get labled gay just because i don't want to date or I wear pants and my hair in a ponytail. I get labled Racist just because I don't act 'black'. I don't listen to the type of music I'm 'supposed' to. Or I don't 'talk' how I should. Everyone gets labled (goths, emo, punk, prep,etc) and if you try to be unique and not follow any crowd then people call you 'weird' or 'fake' or a 'poser'.
Why do you think that is? Is it that no one is brave enough to be an individual and always has to follow something to fit in somewhere?

I think that haircut picture would not be a bad choice at all but don't highlight your hair in quite the extreme way it shows in that picture.
If you do want to streak some highlights along with that cut then just have it done in a minimal way so that it doesn't look too extreme. It should look great on your but really your hair in your picture is somewhat similar to it already. Should be easy to do.

You are a beautiful girl! My advice is this .. stay away from blonde! You're whole look lends itself to deeper shades. I know you don't care about skin color at your age, but brighter red tones and deep caramel shades would be the best for your hair(the bleach has done some damage to your hair) and for your skin tones. I also think (by looking at your photos and reading your profile) that something a little more upbeat and nontraditional would suit your lifestyle better.. am I wrong about that? u never use the yolk. then use the white part only to make it stick up. if u want it to stay extra long put some hairspray in it
break the eggs in bowl, if you've baked much before you can probably manage to get just the whites in and keep the yolk in the shell.

I posted this question yesterday, but figured I might get more responses if I used pictures. I'm really not big on posting picture of myself in places like this, but I figured it'd help.
Lately I've really been wanting to make a big, drastic change to my hair. Feeling impulsive, I guess. I kind of want to go for a super short pixie cut. However, my biggest concern is that I have naturally wavy, very very very thick hair. Seriously, I have an obscene amount of hair. I hide it well, but my hairstylists are always shocked when they need a second bottle of dye to get through my shoulder-length hair.
I just want some feedback on if super-short hair would work out okay for my hair type. I want something chic, piecey, a little punk-y. I'm afraid it'll just look like a mom haircut or just some weird afro. I'm also afraid my features aren't strong enough to pull off this cut.

honestly, do it! you've got a narrow face and big eyes, so i think it would work. there are so many girls with boring, generic, highlighted hair because they don't want to do much creative stuff to it. I would say kudos to you for wanting to do that. it would reveal a lot of your interesting personality to others, which is a good thing.
it wouldn't look mom-ish if you make the fringe (bangs) funky, pieced and stylish, like portman did in that first pic.

ok. I'm a guy and not much into fashion and I'm not sure if this would work or not but I can tell you what I do know.
look at the shape of your face (hard to see when the photo of you is at a downward angle). Then look for someone else with the same shape face and see if they look good with the hairstyle you want. and go from there
or take a better photo of you. one more straight on. then cut out their hairstyles and set them on your pic.
i think it would look really good on you,very chic and would draw attention to your features,go for it

I think hair needs to reflect personality. Personally I like curly red heads, but I think the right hair on any girl can certianly improve upon her natural physique.

But if you don't wanna do the dress think then you should like wear some tights or leg warmers and then wear a big shirt with the shirt kinda off your shoulder. Like you can get a band tee for that. Put on a lot of fake plastic jewelry. And wear like gloves not like warm gloves but kinda like biker type gloves.

I don't really fit into any category, but I know that I don't fit in. I stick out like a sore thumb, but I admit that I enjoy being different. I'll wear any color, unless it's something understated like tan. That's boring. I'm socially peculiar. I know that people think I'm eccentric. I kind of like that too. I also have disabilities.
