Clothing style change?

I really feel like I need to change my style up. I have never had a distict style and am looking for a change. Everytime I go to pick out my clothes i am bored to death and never want to to get dressed because i am so sick of everything I own. All of my clothes seem the same (tee-shirt, jeans).

I have dyed bark brown hair and honey brown eyes; petite. I need to change up my wardrobe. NOT interested in punk/goth styles. i like legwarmers, skirts, and bright colors as well as care-free, summery colors. How can I begin to develop a distinct style? Where can I shop (please list)? Thank you so much in advance.

I am 16-year-old girl, by the way.

First, clean out your closet. Throw out the stuff you've outgrown or you dislike. Sell them so you can have space and money for your new ones. In the meantime keep those basics like your plain polo shirts, tank tops, long sleeved shirts, white tees, which you can use for layering.

When you shop, don't go looking at the rack where you usually buy your stuff but it wouldn't hurt to grab basics once in a while. Check out stores you haven't bothered to visit before. I like browsing at thrift shops for those one-of-a-kind pieces like shirts and vintage dresses, dress stores and jewelry stores for layering or matching with your basics. Stock up on accessories! I like bangles, long necklaces, pearl and hoop earrings and large belts. How about ballet flats? They're not as painful as heels and not too casual as sneakers which you can pair with dresses, leggings, shorts, jeans and just about anything. Layering stretches your wardrobe and it is ideal for cold weather. Just mix and match, keep an open mind for trends, have fun with your outfits and be confident in what you wear!

Best of luck! :)

What's important about a style is to make it your own. If you want to change it you need to do the opposite of what you do now. And remember NEVER follow the crowd.

If you like legwarmer, skirts, and summery colors you could try this:

Wear a long light skirt, put boots on underneath, find a sweet, unique shirt at a thrift store and wear a long scarf on top. This style has actually passed, but it doesn't mean you can't wear it.

You need to go to JCPenny, Macy's, Chanel, Lu Lu Lemon,

Kohls, Be Be, Prada, it all depends on how much u want to spend..... Maybe a cheaper store would be Target. Remember, bright colors make your mood good........ If you wear dark clothes, you'll feel a little depressed. Trust me.

I'm a fashion expert!!!!!

Hmm . . well no offense but you don't want to blend in with all the "preppy" girls. That would be boring! I don't know if you have these stores where you live, but I would try Mandee and Forever 21. Also, don't completely disregard Hot Topic. They are starting to have a lot of bright, cute blouses that you may like. Try Old Navy as well.

If you want to have some new ideas, try watching the Style network. There's a show called How Do I Look? that could give you some really good ideas!

Try visiting these sites and see if you are inspired--- there are some great styles coming this season and next -- that are somewhat retro 60's and this means you get to play with those fabulous colors you like and also match it up with the leggings you talked about.

You are more in style than you think! Hope you enjoy the websites I have shared with you.

Have fun learning how to mix, match and express yourself.

Tina

PS: Try visiting your local college--- for the art/fashion department-- many cities have a fashion school--pair up with someone in the school that you would enjoy working with---as this is going to be the field that they are going to be in---they could also offer 1st hand help and perhaps at no charge to you!

Pay attention to the fact that being petite means keeping things in proportion, big prints (usually not good); long shirts (well--maybe might work--but the correct length is important so that you don't look stunted and even shorter)-- that's about it---being petite is a PLUS-- have fun!

I would try vintage stores. They are unique and you would stand out. :]
