What does the chorus of this song mean?

I think she is referring to war, because Im sure she says "In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air, I was born too late, to a world who doesn't care..." and Hippies (Who were against war duh) had flowers in their hair, and I think that the punk rocker just jazzes it up a bit.

Its cooler than singing "I wish I was a hippy with flowers in my hair"!

What does the chorus of this song mean?

the chorus is talking about being a hippie they are just using punk rocker instead of hippie

What does the chorus of this song mean?

"In '77' and '69' revelution was in the air, I was born to late, into a world that doesn't care."

I believe the numbers are refering to years of revolutionary change. 1960's were years dominated by the era of the hippies. ("flower power ['flowers in my hair']" , "make love not war", "free love") were all sayings used during this time. The Vietnam War was one of the central themes of debate. Civil rights movements, Woodstock, drugs, riots (peaceful and non-peaceful). The world was in a state of transition. The "status quo" of life was being challenged.

1977 was a year of change throughout the world as well. Revolution was happening throughout the globe. The U.S. had just turned 200 yrs old. Disco was popular, folk music was slowly fading out, rock music was getting harder and more popular. The post-modern era of philosophy began creeping in (an age in which we are still currently living).

The point of the chorus is to outline the time she would have liked to have live in. Where life was simple, people cared and life was exciting. She wants to live in an era of change and revolution, but alas she is stuck in an age of complacancy and bordem.

I hope this helps, I am not an expert on the 60's and 70's so if your interested in finding more info go to wikipedia.com and type in the numbers. Have fun and keep asking questions.
