I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

BUT HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

I am told that I should dress like British person to fit in..

But I don't know what the British uniform is...

Should I wear trousers or jeans? Should I wear a long skirt or are minis in this season?

Should I wear a getto look with low slung jeans or dress like a chave in barberry? Should I wear a flece or a hoody, or a waxen jacket? Should I dress smart in a shirt and tie??

Should I dress like a punk and dye my hair grean and get peirced all over?

Or should I be a goth and dress in black with white make up...?

Or maybe PVC fetish gear would be better??

I could wear Brittish national custom but I don't see too many places selling Beef Eater gear..

At whatever costs should I avoid ethnic clothes..except when ethnic boho chic is in? And what if I wear one of those retro Braselian football t shirts.,

Would that mean I am dressing foreign, and should be avoided too???

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Ignore people like that. The very definition of choice means you have the choice to wear what you want. If you want to wear hijab, wear it by all means! Britian has a growing multicultural society. If THEY aren't comfortable with diversity, then they need to leave to some backwards society. Anyone that has an issue with what someone chooses to wear is the real problem.

If you don't like th ecountry, you are always free to leave. Do you want directions to the airport?

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

WHATEVER YOU FEEL GOOD IN

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

you should dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable ..and if that is what you are in now then who cares what other people say just do what you like.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

cheers from me baaad

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I would hope so, it is not how you dress that is important.

It is how you get along with everyone else.

Peace!

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I think you should dress the way you feel comfortable, spiritually. Don't dress a certain way just to "fit in." Be proud of who you are. If you get benefit from wearing hijab, then by all means, wear it.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

You should dress in whatever you are most comfortable. If you are comfortable in your hijab - wear it! We do not have "fashion police". Just be yourself!

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I totally agree.

People can dress however they feel comfortable.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

The Qur'an asks nothing more than that you dress modestly. You can interpret that anyway you please. Covering the face is uncommon in Western society, but beyond that, anything goes.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I say wear what you want, but I'm not in Britain, so I really don't even know about what they have said about the hijab. If you want to wear it, I think you should be able to.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I think it is sad that a Muslim Sister would ask such a question. May Allah SWT guide u.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Who told you to take it off? No one, I guess. It's not against the law to wear one. Your right, a good thing about the West is you can wear what you want, so why don't you? Can't help feeling that you're being a bit paranoid here.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

if you want to wear you're hijab wear you're hijab it's your belief and your decision but if you don't want to wear it i suggest wearing something that you like if they sell it in the western stores it's probably western once you get used to the western lifestyle you'll understand the fashion and styles here better

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

LOL!!!!

You seem to be a 'dress up' freak.

There's more to being a true Muslim than dressing up.

Just dress modestly.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

1- Hijab is not western and is not a british apparatus

2- When you wear it you look like a clown

3- Undress is more western. You could cover nudity with some clothes : M%26amp;S , C%26amp;A

4- All the clothes you mention are OK . You are not supposed to pierce or dye your hair green.

5- The above look also like clowns, and you can join them in the weird side of the society

BY ALL MEANS YOU ARE FREE ... Try to wear freedom with elegance

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Trousers if youre fat, jeans if youre thin.

long skirt if you have ugly knees, short if you have good legs.

getto or chave - NEVER always looks like crap!

shirt and tie is ok if you have a good job.

I'd go with blue not green for the punk look - green never matches any ones complexion.

goth is ok if youre pretty - if youre not you'll just look worse.

PVC fetish gear if youre also cat woman.

You seem to have a lot of choices of what to wear, so why are you complaining, its not like you've been told you have to wear a certain thing???

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Yes and no, If you want to dress in a hijab and live by western law that is one thing but most of you people want to come over and force your customs on others and in that case you should go where you can live under sharia law.

For example the idiot woman who sued the state of Florida for not letting her keep her face covered on the picture of her driver's license.....or the idiot muslim cab drivers (Minneapolis) that won't accept blind people with seeing eye dogs as fares, or any one with an UNOPENED bottle of alcoholic beverage.

As the Gentleman from Australia (PM I believe) said last week, if you can't live by our rules and laws go somewhere else.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

my wife and I are living in the USA, we were asked for employment if she would "consider" her Hijab and we refused and subsequently had trouble finding a job, still did find one though. I would recommend to continue with Hijab since it is a high priority recommendation by Islam, dress can still be anythig decent that does not show the skin or contours of the body, this would still keep up islamic requirements and there are western dresses that fit this description. This is what my wife does, good luck

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Come to America, where a lot more accepting than you might think, :)

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

It is true that you are free to wear whatever you want. But you moved into a different culture and although you don't have to, it is respectful to try to assimilate into it while staying true to who you are.

The point of western cultures allowing outsiders in is to have people who want to be western, not to have people who want to stick to their group and stay separate. Or even worse, people who want western culture to change to be like them. If you don't want to be western, why are you there???? I would have a big problem moving to a Muslim country and I can assure you there is not a job offer that is good enough to get me there.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I feel that you should wear what you feel comfortable wearing so long as it is decent and respectable. I would much rather see a woman wearing a hijab than some I see hanging out all over and looking like a street corner prostitute (all the time calling it fashionable). They should be embarrassed. Wear what you wish as long as it does not resemble "the emporer's new clothes".

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Anything that has no religious symbolism

Religion is evil and you are marking yourself as scum if you can only wear clothes that are religious symbols

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

It sounds like the people telling you to dress like the British are just trying to keep you safe. Since 9-11 not to many America's are going to trust or even excepted your cutler. But if youwant to stay true to your cutler then I would say you should dress that way and not flip back and forward.

It will take a while for us as America's to get use to the idea that not all of you are that way. But it will not happen if your cutler starts to dress like someone you are not. That just tells us you are trying to hide something.

I would say you would be better off staying true to yourself. Not to be someone you are not.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I am from the U.S., so I don't know how extreme social pressure is in the U.K. However, one of the nice things about the west is that you can dress pretty much however you like as a form of self expression, or for comfort, or for no reason at all. I am rather adventurous, myself. Along with my western wardrobe,I have adopted wearing salwar kameez- because I find it comfortable, flattering, practical, and in our desert climate in the west, cooler and more dignified than the short shorts and very skimpy tops people wear to keep cool. I get mixed comments, some people love them, some think its strange, everyone agrees with me about the good points. I think that you should dress in whatever way you feel the most comfortable, that makes you feel relaxed and most able to be yourself. The people that are criticizing you are only showing their ignorance and intolerance. Any of the other choices you mentioned would bother someone or other. If you want to go western and keep covered, go for boho-chic, wear a long skirt and a scarf tied as a head wrap rather than the traditional hijab. You'll be sylish and comfortable, too.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Wear what you want- whether it be a hijab or a chicken suit. I'm not the biggest fan of American culture (and I LIVE here), but even I can admit that America's diversity is one of the only things that make it worth anything. Add to the diversity. Don't TRY to fit in, just be who you are, in whatever clothes you want. Of course if you don't WANT to wear a hijab, that's fine too. It really only has to do with what you want.

Besides, I wouldn't try to jump into the trends now- the 80s are back, meaning a lot of leggings, tunic-y tops, skinny jeans with dark washes, etc... It's pretty bad.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Uh, Western culture is really the ability to wear what you want. There is no specific cultural dress. I'm not sure if you are, but it sounds like you're complaining and to be honest with you, you should be glad that these people are telling you that you "should" and not that you "have to" and it's just some citizens and not the government of the country. Be glad you live in an open society. You could live in certain countries in the Middle East where you would have to wear the burqa or forced to wear the hijab wheather you're ready or not. So look on the bright side, at least you have a choice.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

Why do you care anyway? . . . . No matter how your garment looks like, you will always be criticised by somebody. . . . . Ask yourself who do you want to indulge, and go for it. . . .

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

I am a Christian who is studying islam. I am getting ready to do the shahada. The Quran says that woman have to cover the head and body. Do what you feel you have to. Just keep your respect and dont wear very revealing or seductive clothing.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

You sould continue dressing as you have. do not be influenced by the non believers and succumb to their way of life.

I am a Muslim woman and I have been told that I should take of my hijab because it is not Western?

don't take your hijab off for anyone or any thing

if they are democratic countries as they say they are ,they shouldn't oppress Muslims ad try to impose their own culture on us

why cant each one of us respect each other traditions ,culture and beliefs ? isn't this democracy ?
